Blood diseases such as leukemias are affecting all age groups in society. NIRM aims to:
- Identify the genetic networks and epigenetic factors involved in establishing normal or malignant stem cells (as in leukemia).
- Image the production, migration and survival of stem cells in the stem cell niche for novel methods to amplify blood stem cells in vivo and ex vivo.
- To establish personalized blood disease treatment regimes from patient-derived sources of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) and induced hematopoietic stem cells (iHSC).
